BACKGROUND: As an outcome of cooperative agreements among the Archdiocese of New York, the Diocese of Rockville Centre, and the Diocese of Brooklyn, St. Joseph’s Seminary now serves as the Major Theologate for the seminarians of these downstate dioceses, as well as the sole degree-granting institution for graduate-level programs offered by the three dioceses. Graduate-level seminarians reside in Yonkers. College-level and other pre-theology seminarians reside at the Cathedral House of Formation. Candidates for the permanent diaconate study at various locations and lay students in the Masters’s degree programs can attend classes on more than one campus.
